Biography

Dr Eiman Elbanhawy is a Senior Lecturer in Architecture and Technology at the University of Portsmouth. Her interdisciplinary research spans smart cities, e-mobility, resilience, HCI, spatial experience, and urban sustainability. Eiman’s work bridges academia and practice, drawing on her experience as a postdoctoral researcher at MK:Smart (The Open University) and as a visiting scholar at Penn State University's Sustainability Institute. She has successfully supervised PhD students in areas such as Slum Upgrade, Human-Computer Interaction, and UX in gaming. Eiman welcomes PhD proposals related to architecture, urban design, technology-enhanced environments, and the design of livable, inclusive cities. She is committed to nurturing impactful, cross-disciplinary research and fostering a supportive environment for postgraduate researchers. 

Media availability

Her latest work on Compact Cities and Resilience in Post War regions will be presented in the 2025 Livable Cities Conference in Lisbon.
